Calculate Girth Measure
The girth measure is often used to assess the overall size of a shipment. It is especially important for parcel and bulky goods shipping.
Formula: longest side + 2 x width + 2 x height
In the PexPak parcel service, a girth measure of 3 m must not be exceeded. The maximum length is 2 m.
Example
A shipment is 100 cm long, 30 cm wide and 20 cm high.
- Longest side: 100 cm
- Girth: 2 x 30 cm + 2 x 20 cm = 100 cm
- Girth measure: 100 cm + 100 cm = 200 cm
What to keep in mind
- Always use the longest side as the starting value.
- Measure the fully packed shipment, not just the item itself.
- For the PexPak parcel service: maximum girth measure 3 m, maximum length 2 m.
- Include protruding packaging parts, handles or wheels in the measurement.
- For unusual shapes or special dimensions, it is best to ask in advance.
